HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA On July 4, 1776, America claimed its independence from Great Britain. In an effort to celebrate the 237th year of this anniversary in our community, City staff, volunteer firefighters, and the Women’s Auxiliary unit at the Coos Bay Fire Department have been busily preparing for the annual 4th of July events which includes the 4th of July in the Park, a Family Fun Day at Mingus Park, and Fireworks over the Bay.
The day’s schedule:
10:00 a.m. - Mayor’s Firecracker Run
11:00 a.m. - Flag Ceremony held by the Boy Scouts
11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Various food booths and other fun activities for the family including face painting, police K-9 demo, Elks Club drug awareness program, and fishing with the Coos Bay Fire Department and Oregon Fish & Wildlife Department.
1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p. m. Free swimming at the Mingus Park swimming pool.
