Golden Avenue Rehab Scope August 30, 2017

While the Empire Boulevard road enhancement project is just about finished, the City is embarking on a new road enhancement project near the post office in downtown Coos Bay. The South Empire Boulevard project took nearly two years to complete, but the Golden Avenue project is projected to take approximately 120 days to finish.

During the project, there will be traffic disruptions on Golden Avenue between S. 4th and S. 7th Streets (as pictured below). The scope of the project includes the following:

  • 455 lineal feet of 30” PVC, 310 lineal feet of 12” PVC Storm Sewer line including the installation of nine new Catch Basins, and four new 60” manholes.
  • Also, the installation of 310 lineal feet of 12” PVC Sanitary Sewer line and the construction of one new 48” manhole.
  • Demolition will include but is not limited to the removal of one SD manhole, eight catch basins, 19 trees and the existing road surface, base material, curb, gutter and sidewalk.
  • Roadway rehabilitation shall include but not be limited to: roadway excavation and placement of approximately 860 tons of HMAC asphalt, 1025 lineal feet of standard curb, gutter and sidewalks, 185 lineal feet of a three‐foot tall retaining structure, 12  pedestrian ramps, and seven driveway replacements. Contractor shall provide traffic control, including flaggers and all other work as may be required for a complete installation and placement of the new asphalt concrete paving, sanitary sewer replacement, and storm drain upgrades to Golden Avenue as described in the project plans and specifications.

  • Utility notification 8/21/17
  • Submittals 8/30/17
  • Notice to Proceed 8/29/17
  • Traffic Control 9/5/17
  • Completion 120 days
