Dispatcher Retires from Department After Notable Career July 18, 2017

After 31 years of employment with the Coos Bay Police Department, Michelle Kirby announced that she is ready to retire and begin a new chapter in her life. Kirby was first hired as a part-time dispatcher in 1986 and worked in that capacity until a full-time position became available August of 1988.   

Having been raised in a law enforcement family, working in public safety and 911 emergency dispatching was an easy choice for Kirby. During her 31 years, Kirby has made an impact in the lives of thousands of people ensuring that police, fire, and ambulance personnel were dispatched as efficiently and with as much information as possible.

As Kirby transitions into retirement, she will continue working part-time in the dispatch for a brief period. Once fully retired, Kirby is looking forward to spending time with her family and enjoying the many hobbies that they share.

The City of Coos Bay and Coos Bay Police Department would like to thank Michelle Kirby for many years of dedicated service to the citizens of Coos County and wish her well as she begins her retirement.
