On August 23rd at 5:29 p.m., the Coos Bay Fire Department responded to the report of a possible building fire located at 135 South Wall Street.  This location was next door to the Empire Fire Station. The first arriving firefighters found light smoke coming from the rear of the structure. Firefighters remained on scene for an additional hour mopping up the scene and removing smoke from the structure. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the Coos Bay Fire Department is being assisted by the Coos Bay Police Department.

The Coos Bay Fire Department estimates the fire damage to the structure to be $30,000.00 and $20,000.00 to the occupant’s contents.  The building is insured and the occupants of the structure also have insurance.  If you need additional information about this incident please contact Fire Chief Mark Anderson at 541-269-1191.
