City Embarks on Website Redesign May 13, 2022

At the City Council’s biennial goal setting session in early 2021, a focus was placed upon increasing communication between the City and its citizens with the development of Goal 7. Fast forward to early 2022 and the City has embarked on several projects to address components of Goal #7 including

  • Remodel of the City’s website to make it more user friendly, improved search capacity, and quicker access to logically organized information
  • Implementation of a communications tool (GovDelivery) that provides for user selected information delivery and more robust delivery of information through simultaneous push to social media channels.
  • Elevated access to meetings of the City Council, boards, and commissions with tools to zero in on agenda item discussions to increase community awareness of governing body actions, projects, and policies.

The City has partnered with Granicus on these three projects and completion is expected to be over the next several months. As part of the website remodel, we have also requested interested parties to submit original photographs of the Coos Bay community for potential use on the new website; see the post in this issue of the photo submission. Stay tuned for unveiling of the new website, as well as opportunities to sign up for user selected information updates, and agenda items, and catalogued video streaming of meetings. Ultimately, completion of Goal #7 results in transparency of information and encourages citizen inquisitiveness and interaction with local government.

In addition to receiving the weekly Friday Update, I invite you to follow us on our CityPolice, Fire, and/or Library Facebook pages.
