Boat Ramp Float Replacement Projects May 12, 2022
The City of Coos Bay has contracted with Topper Industries to fabricate and deliver 14 aluminum boat ramp floats associated with the Empire and Eastside boat ramps. Six (6) boat ramp floats will be replaced at the Empire Boat Ramp and eight (8) will be replaced at the Eastside Boat Ramp. Fabrication is underway with an estimated ship date of July 28. City staff will install the floats upon arrival. Staff estimates that it will take approximately two weeks (weather dependent) to install.
The funding for this project came in the way of grants from ODFW and OSMB, with the remainder of the funding coming from the Empire URA. Oregon adopted Best Management Practices (BMP) that improve water quality and promote a cleaner marine environment. This project complies with the BMPs and anticipates the floats will last well into the future.
