Structure Fire on July 7 July 12, 2017
On July 7 at approximately 11:10 p.m., Coos Bay Fire Department received reports of a structure fire located at 92674 Cascade Lane in the Libby District. Initial reports to the 911 center indicated it was a vacant house on fire. The first arriving crews found a fully involved garage next to an unoccupied residence. Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the majority of the fire and prevent significant extension to the residence.
Coos Bay Fire Department was assisted on scene by Charleston Rural Fire Protection District, North Bend Fire Department, and Coos County Sherriff’s Department. Millington Rural Fire Department was also requested to assist with a water tender due to the distance from the closest fire hydrant, but they were canceled prior to arriving on scene.
Coos Bay Fire Department requested the assistance of the Southwestern Oregon Fire Investigation Team for the fire investigation. At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
