Steps Towards Upgrade June 16, 2022

Over the last few months you have been reading and learning about the history and innerworkings of Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 1. The last large upgrade to the plant occurred in 1990. While smaller updates have occurred in the last 20+ years, the plant is due for a large upgrade. There are many steps that have to be taken prior to actually updating a whole facility. These steps include but are not limited to: facility planning, evaluating funding abilities, value engineering, pre-design, final design, along with DEQ review and approvals. Once all these steps are complete construction can occur.

While this might seem like a long process it is a very important process to ensure that the steps are taken so the upgrade is the best for the plant and adheres to the constantly changing regulatory requirements. In the coming weeks there will be information on the steps this upgrade has taken and future steps to complete prior to the upgrade.
