SCDC Welcomes Samuel Baugh as Executive Director August 15, 2017
Samuel Baugh officially took the helm of the South Coast Development Council (SCDC) this week. SCDC is an economic development organization serving the entire south coast from Florence to Brookings. SCDC’s mission is to promote and support businesses that provide quality jobs through responsible development on Oregon’ South Coast.
From his first job chipping excess cement out of cement trucks to his current position as the Executive Director for the South Coast Development Council (SCDC), Baugh has built relationships with both the company he is working in, as well as their community partners. For 12 years, he worked with a multinational non-profit focused on helping to eliminate poverty. As a regional manager for the non-profit, Baugh built courses on: finding employment, building a small business, how to manage your personal finances, and getting into education to build your career. He also created a professional development series which focused on topics ranging from using humor in the workplace to building morale and engagement in your organization, to growing an abundance mentality.
Baugh has been an Adjunct Professor at Utah Valley University along with guest lecturing at four other colleges and universities.
With a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Westminster College, Baugh uses his knowledge to help business owners find ways to promote their personal businesses and build their team. He was a founder and executive board member for the Utah County chapter of SCORE and is a certified small business coach through them. He also sat on the Board of Directors for organizations including, the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, Central Utah Adult Literacy Committee, Moutainland Applied Technology College Business and Technology Advisory Board, and many other groups focused on building communities.
Baugh is looking forward to getting involved and building relationships within our local communities to help further grow the economy of the South Coast.
