Progress on Empire Boulevard June 19, 2017

Installation of Curbs and Gutters Close to Complete

The Empire Boulevard project will widen the roadway section to provide bikes lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the street. The project will also provide a covered structure at the Coos County Area Transit (CCAT) bus stop on Empire Boulevard.  Street lighting, benches, and other improvements would be provided to make the boulevard more attractive and user friendly for bicycle and pedestrians. The project resumed May 2017 and is on schedule to be finished by July 31, 2017. Most of the curbs and gutters have been installed with the exception of a few curb returns on abutting side streets. Bio-swales (drainage basins) have been constructed for storm water runoff and over 60 % of the sidewalks have been installed. The majority of concrete work north of Fulton Avenue is completed with the exception of few driveway access ramps that are left to install. Clean Cut Landscaping will soon start planting shrubs and flowers fulfilling the landscape detail and other site amenities will be completed as the project progresses.
