Open House Promotes Fire Safety October 18, 2017

Coos Bay Firefighters were extra busy last week promoting fire safety to local children and families. Over 300 kids from local schools toured the Coos Bay Fire Station and had an opportunity to learn about fire safety, including how to make an exit plan from the home in the event of an emergency. Firefighters stressed the importance of practicing your exit plan at least twice a year. Firefighters also visited Coos Bay schools and talked with more than 700 kids. This was a fantastic opportunity for the fire department to be able to communicate the importance of fire safety.

On October 11, the Coos Bay Fire Department held their annual Open House at Station 1, 450 Elrod in downtown Coos Bay. During the Open House, the public was invited to obtain fire safety and disaster preparedness information. The event included free food and games, creating a fun night for families and the fire department. The Coos Bay Fire Department is grateful to the more than 300 attendees for their participation.
